
Students travel the globe and examine cultural similarities and differences as reflected in art from around the world.

The following list of objectives includes many possible concepts that may be included on a tour. Not all of these objectives will be covered on every tour. If there are certain objectives you definitely want covered, please include this information when you request your tour.
Experience cultural diversity by examining a selection of artworks from various cultures and time periods.
· Discuss ways the arts serve as expressions of culture.
· Examine the range of functions works of art may have – from purely aesthetic to functional in the worldly or spiritual realms.
· Identify similarities and differences in people's characteristics, habits, and living patterns.
· Describe the various roles of individuals as members of society in various time periods and places.
· Discuss the political and social effects that occur when cultures interact.
Apply the skills of historical analysis and interpretation to works of art.
· View works of art as primary historical sources. Analyze them by:
· Seeking answers to questions.
· Making inferences about historical eras.
· Explain the difference between past, present, and future time. Discuss how some aspects of culture have stayed the same while others have changed over time.
· Geography
· Use maps to locate the region from where the work of art came.
· Identify the ways people depend on and interact with the physical environment.
· Economics
· Describe the production and consumption of works of art.
· Explain the effects of trade and the consumption of art to a nation's economy.
